My internship experience has been full of learning. I have been involved in so many projects and have gained so much experience that I wouldn’t have gained from my classes.  Some new knowledge that I have gained is how to prepare 1040 tax returns and prepare quarterly estimates. I have also been able to learn more about what goes on in the internal accounting department.  

My favorite part of the internship has been all the new connections I have made with co workers and other interns.  I was able to work on a special project over the summer for St. Jude. This project provided me with some audit experience since we had to make sure thousands of tickets had been recorded correctly. It was rewarding knowing we were providing this service at no cost to St. Jude’s.

My favorite part from my internship was strongly reflected throughout every aspect of my work: from serving clients to working with colleagues. The Abacus experience really made it enjoyable for me to do what I do while still serving clients to the best of my ability.  

There are two main things that I would like to point out that really stood out for me: First is the people I interned and worked with. During my time of internship, we worked so closely together that it felt like we were not just colleagues, but we were friends with everybody around us. This level of connection made me enjoy going to work everyday and foster my efficiency and capabilities at work. The second thing I want to point out is that every supervisor of mine has had nothing but my best interest at heart. They always take the time to listen and advocate for me regardless of how busy they are.
