Sabrena Shipley joined Abacus in January 2018 and serves as an Advisor and Audit Department Leader. She oversees the full lifecycle of audit and attestation engagements—from proposal development and client onboarding to final report issuance and federal compliance—ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and exceptional client service. Sabrena also leads software evaluation, process improvement, and staff development for the department, mentoring team members through complex audits and fostering cross-functional collaboration. Her client portfolio spans government entities, nonprofits, construction firms, and water districts, where she is a trusted advisor in navigating regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards.Â
Sabrena earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting in December 2018 and her Master of Accountancy in December 2019, receiving her CPA license in September 2020. She is passionate about bringing clarity to complex processes, mentoring others, and driving smarter decisions through honest communication and strategic systems. She thrives on improving workflows, empowering staff, and helping both clients and colleagues solve problems and grow. Her leadership and impact have been recognized through multiple honors, including Springfield Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 (2023) and the MOCPA Woman to Watch Award (2024).Â
Outside of work, Sabrena enjoys reading, dance fitness, walks, and discovering new places, foods, and activities.
