Abacus! is excited to announce MJ Lutz and Jenean Richardson as recipients of the 2026 Abacus Values Award for Positive Attitude. MJ is a Client Accounting Specialist in Accounting Services, and Jenean is an Administrative Assistant Specialist in Transportation.

The Abacus Values Award for Positive Attitude recognizes employees who consistently demonstrate a coachable mindset, cooperation and a belief that the intentions and abilities of others are good. MJ and Jenean reflect those qualities through their effort, growth, initiative and the positive energy they bring to those around them.

MJ brings a mindset to work that lifts others up. Colleagues recognize MJ as someone who shows up with determination, positivity and a strong willingness to learn.

When sharing the mindset that guides MJ’s work, MJ said, “I always want to become better than I was yesterday.” MJ is not afraid to ask questions, put in extra effort and do what it takes to deliver accurate, high-quality work.

When asked what receiving the Positive Attitude Award means, MJ said, “Receiving this award means a lot to me because it comes from the people I work with every day. I truly care about doing my best and being someone others can count on. It is encouraging to know that my attitude and effort have made a positive impact, and I am very grateful for the recognition.”

What makes MJ stand out is a strong work ethic, adaptability and a genuine desire to contribute to the team’s success. Even in a new environment, MJ has built trust quickly through hard work, professionalism and a commitment to continued growth.

Jenean also sets a strong example of what it means to bring a positive attitude to the workplace. Colleagues describe Jenean as someone who approaches every task with pride, focus and a commitment to doing it well.

When explaining what positive attitude means in day-to-day work, Jenean said, “A positive attitude isn’t just being cheerful; it’s the way you show up each day and the energy you bring into the room.”

Jenean is known for taking responsibility fully and following through. Jenean has quickly become a reliable presence, someone others count on to keep things organized, meet deadlines and step in wherever needed.

When asked what receiving the Positive Attitude Award means, Jenean said, “Receiving this award means a lot because the people I work with are incredibly important to me. A lot of the work I do happens behind the scenes, so knowing that I’m creating meaningful improvements and making a positive impact is both validating and encouraging. I’m grateful to be part of a team that values support, growth and positivity.”

Across the firm, Jenean is recognized for energy, ownership and a mindset of growth. Jenean stays open to feedback, looks for ways to improve processes and consistently finds better ways to get things done, all while contributing to a positive and engaged team environment.

The Abacus! Values Awards were created in 2020 to recognize individuals who fully exemplify Abacus Values in how they live, work and build relationships with clients and coworkers. Honorees are selected each spring and announced at Abacus!’s semi-annual firm-wide retreat, AM³.
